The Tenkile (Dendrolagus scottae)

• Habitat: High-altitude tropical cloud forests of northwestern Papua New Guinea
• Size & Weight: Adult tenkiles typically weigh between 9 and 11 kilograms
• Physical Traits: Thick black fur designed for cool, misty mountain climates
• Movement & Agility: Broad paws with powerful curved claws and a long, non-prehensile tail used primarily for balance while navigating high branches

The Weimang (Dendrolagus pulcherrimus)

• Status: Critically endangered alongside the tenkile
• Distinguishing Features: Golden-mantled fur with striking facial markings and two distinct golden stripes on its back
• Ecological Role: Flagship species helping secure broader rainforest protections for countless endemic birds, insects, and flora
